UITP has completed a fantastic week at the TRA2018 event to promote our Research and Innovation projects.
And what a week we’ve had!
During a jam-packed itinerary of conferences, plenary and panel sessions, technical demonstrations, stand exhibitions, project launches and conclusions…UITP brought our pioneering projects to a wider audience in the Austrian capital.
UITP, in particular our Research and Innovation department came on mass to Vienna with the aim of informing the exhibitors, attendees, session-goers and distinguished guests about all things EBSF_2, ASSURED, ZeEUS, ELIPTIC, Fair Stations, GALILEO4MOBILITY, GoF4R and more.
UITP hosted a stand during the event where our team presented a pre-conference demonstration of the EBSF_2 project, a panel session and talk on ASSURED and discussed many of our other projects for the public transport sector and industry-minded guests. The first of the ASSURED Talk series was moderated by the ASSURED Coordinator, Noshin Omar (VUB) and counted with the participation of Umberto Guida (UITP), Guido Sacchetto (EC RTD), Karen Vancluysen (Polis) and Maria Wedenby Ahlberg (Volvo Bus).
Following the panel, Volvo – who were present on the UITP stand during our entire time at TRA - performed a live demonstration of the e-bus line simulator, which is based on great part of the ZeEUS project knowledge and experiences, raising high interest among both audience and speakers.
During our time at TRA2018 UITP held our final conference on the EBSF_2 project where many notable bus-sector figures – including from the European Commission Patrick Mercier-Handisyde and Georgios Charalampous of Innovation & Networks Executive Agency (INEA) – gathered to hear the findings of this innovative project and see our team bring it to a conclusion.
During the TRA opening session the European Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc and the Austrian Federal Minister for Transport Norbert Hofer spoke on the importance of public transport and working together to develop our sector. Commissioner Bulc handed out the prize during the awards ceremony, with UITP giving the award for best research on cross-modality – and our Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani presenting second prize.
Our Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani also participated in a plenary session during the first day of TRA2018, discussing 'User-Centric Mobility Systems' alongside Klaus Bamberger, Head of Market and Customer Service at Wiener Linien, Jurgen Schlaht, Technology and Innovation, Siemens AG Mobility Rolling Stock, Anitti Vuorela, Helsinki Transport Authority, HSL and Floridea Di Ciommo, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Co-founder cambiaMO.
UITP came to Vienna to tell the world of public transport that our pioneering projects are leading the sector and we have the results to prove it.
It’s safe to say they delivered.
TRA2018 has been a huge success for UITP and with the feeling of achievement with us, we’ll see you at TRA2020 for all UITP and R&I activities…
Helsinki here we come!
